Finally time for another update.

This was what I did for my christmas test in medias. Designed a CD cover for the fictional music group "Birdies from Heaven", with the CD "How to Navigate the Electric Grid of a Major City".

The idea was that it'd be a post-rock group.

Listened almost only to the song "The Birth and the Death of Day" by Explosions in the Sky while making it, a really fantastic group. Post-rock, if anyone wonders.

I'd also love to thank the following people who made some very great brushes available.

Bird: =flordelys-stock :iconflordelys-stock:

Clouds: Sadly can't find it again, but it's on dA somewhere!

The metal and power lines themselves are from a photo I took at the train station near my school.

Enjoy, and please do give advice!

Well, i must say, not that bad :D

You got the simplicity of post-rock enviroments, simple and natural colours fit well here, but talking about "Birdies from Heaven", two things fail here, in my opinion. You placed just one bird that has nothing to do with heaven, you got me? ;)
Apart from that, I think brushes don´t matches here. I sugest you to get the same structure (that was a rlly nice idea) used in brushes from a photo, so you'll get some more realistic and natural look, otherway it look like some indie production.

I find it nice, but try to work harder on the concept, not the making of (point you have reached clearly ;))

Cheers, and enjoy :P

Thanks :) And also thanks for such great critique. =P That's what we all want.

When it comes to the birds, the thought was more that the birds simply came flying down from the skies, although I absolutely agree with you. Didn't think of it that much when I made it, but doves would've been better, and more fitting to the name. :P I tried finding nice images of more birds to fit in the picture, as flying, or something that looked nice if I placed it on the power line besides the other bird. Every time I placed flying birds in the picture, it didn't quite seem to fit, though.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean about the brushes, though. Do you mean making brushes out of a photo of clouds, or..? I just found a very nice pack of brushes that pretty much destroys every other pack of cloud brushes I've ever seen. ;) I was a little afraid of overdoing it, though; making the sky too filled up with skies. But I also wanted the top to be a little intentionally empty, to symbolize the eternity of the heavens.

I can always note that this was my first attempt at using brushes, so I'm pretty satisfied from that point of view. Although there's of course things to improve. And I sure will take what you say into consideration. I like it when the concept matches the image, and I see I'm going to take closer looks at it from now on.

Thanks a lot!

And how are you, anyways? =P

Thanks. =P

Have you ever seen the cover for Modest Mouse - "Good News For People Who Love Bad News" ? Had it in mind, although I guess it doesn't look that much like this one.

Simply, clean and smooth. I like. :)

Colours remind me of post-apocalyptic scenery.

Well I may not be able to give you some advanced critique, but I think this is really awsome. The colors with the black really pop. It caught my attention. I like the concept, not too overpowering, but really eyecatching.
